This means that you do not have to defend the blinds each round and you can sit back and study the players and their betting habits looking for tells. Keep a very low profile because players are going to try and spot your tells, so not talking, no flashing hole cards, and no betting fast or slow each hand. Mi up your speeds, mix up your bet sizes, and go after the two blinds with a nice preflop raise every once in a while to win easy pots and stay ahead of the blinds eating your profits.

Playing at Poker Tournaments

With tournament play you have to have a three-stage thinking mentality. If there is unlimited buy-ins, you have to get it all in and try to double up as quickly as possible to develop a table presence. Once you have twice the starting chips or more, you can then pick your spots and go after the players just hanging on too tight to their chips. As you get to the money line, tighten up play and let the smaller chip counts get blasted off the table. Once in the money, you can go after all those people who were just happy to get into the money and grow your stack so you can reach the final table.
